Richard Tosic Architects were commissioned to assist with the statutory consents such as planning permission and building regulations approval. The existing building on the site was a single storey timber frame structure.
A previous planning consent had been gained to demolish the existing structure and replace with two residential units. The developer was keen to optimise the site as much as possible, and wanted to completely change the designs.
As part of the brief, ground source heat pumps were used in combination with underfloor heating.
The external finishes include render, western red cedar timber cladding, composite aluminium windows and natural slates for the roof.
