Practice:

Richard is both a member of the RIBA, and ARB, and has been a fully qualified architect since 1995.
Now based in Falmouth Cornwall, he offers a range of architectural design services for planning and other statutory consent applications.
He has worked within various practices in London, before relocation to Falmouth in 2005.
Previous positions include working with RHWL at Covent Garden, Adamson Associates at Canary Wharf, Davey Smith architects, Douglas & King architects, and PBWC in St Ives.
Since 2009, he has worked as a self employed architect, on residential projects, ranging from small extensions, conversions to new builds.
Philosophy:
Pragmatic constraints such as budgets, time scale and quality are fully considered for each project, but the following elements illustrate the main design philosophy and approach applied to all projects.
- Robust design and detailing – responding to the Cornish climate
- Natural and local materials – to reduce the carbon footprint
- Climate change/renewables – important design driver
- Future proofing and sustainability – extend lifetime of building
These are probably more aspirational and different for each client and ultimately have to be prioritised, depending on the design brief.
